Potter’s Message

“Like clay in the hands of the potter, so are you in My hand.” Jeremiah 18:6

One evening years ago, we saw a potter at the wheel taking a lump of clay and shaping it into something useful and beautiful. As the potter shaped the clay he talked about how God is our Master Potter. On our way home my husband Carl, said that he sensed God wanting him to do this. Carl had never before worked with clay. But as the days and weeks went by he kept sensing God’s call to compare the shaping of the clay to the Christian walk. As the clay is prepared, centered, opened, pulled up and restored, we see a visual of God’s grace and transforming power.

Carl asked me to come along side of him and help. After a season of prayer and watching for God’s guidance we together stepped out in faith and answered “Yes” to God’s call. We named this outreach ministry the “Potter’s Message.” We knew full well that this whole thing was way beyond our own capabilities.

Eighteen years later, Carl had a brain bleed that caused a massive stroke. We didn’t know what to think. We wondered if God closed the door to this outreach ministry because the stroke affected the entire right side of his body. He was right handed and had to learn how to use his left hand for everything. To our amazement God has enabled Carl to make beautiful bowls on the potter’s wheel using only one hand…his left hand! I call Carl my miracle man. We are thankful that God has kept the door open to this amazing ministry. To God be the glory!
